About the 12-Month Progress Report

The 12-month progress report is intended to be a check-in on the status of your HCBF grant. This is an opportunity to share your progress on the completed program/project, notify HCBF of any changes to the budget or scope, and discuss any unforeseen circumstances. You can also share any pictures related to the HCBF grant.
  Please upload a Word document of no more than two pages, that addresses the following points:

  1. Provide an overview of your grant activities to date.
  2. List any adjustments made to the scope or budget, and why.
  3. List any outside funding obtained as a result of this grant, or any new partnerships formed.

  If your report does not contain all of the above requested information, it will not be accepted.

About Us: The Harbor Community Benefit Foundation (HCBF) is an independent nonprofit grantmaking organization dedicated to mitigating the environmental justice and quality of life impacts of Port-related industry and goods movement on near-port communities of the greater-Los Angeles San Pedro Bay. HCBF administers investment funds for communities significantly affected by their proximity to the San Pedro Bay Ports and related businesses and transportation corridors. HCBF Staff and its seven-member volunteer Board collaborate with local partners to address critical community needs.

Position Summary: HCBF seeks a skilled and experienced Finance Controller to join our nonprofit organization on a part-time basis. The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing strategic guidance to support the organization's mission and goals.  Please note that this position is classified as at-will employment, offering flexibility for both the employee and the organization. Please note that the Finance Controller position at Harbor Community Benefit Foundation (HCBF) is classified as at-will employment. This means that either the employee or the organization may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason, with or without cause.

Compensation:  This is a part-time position and does not include benefits. Compensation is based on experience and relevant qualifications.

Accepting Proposals:  HCBF is open to proposals from both in-house Finance Controllers and independent contractors. Proposals should include details of proposed services, qualifications, and estimated costs. Please submit proposals via Submittable.

Harbor Community Benefit Foundation (HCBF) is seeking a dynamic individual for an internship to bolster our organizational communications plan. Collaborating directly with staff and consultants, the role focuses on highlighting HCBF's essential role in enhancing the quality of life for communities impacted by goods movement and port-related industries near the Port. This part-time position, requiring approximately 8 hours per week for 12-16 weeks, presents a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in communications and community engagement within a non-profit environment. Remote work options may be considered, and exceptional performance could lead to a part-time paid position post-internship. Academic credit arrangements are possible.
